Physician, Pain Management
Schedule:
FTE is 1.0, 8 hours per day, Clinic: M-F 8-5
Position will split time in the clinic and outpatient surgery center
Practice Environment
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team including:
On‑site Addiction Medicine physician
Three Pain Management physicians
Close working relationships with Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery
- Referral base primarily from Primary Care
- Team‑based approach to opioid management and tapering, both independently and in partnership with referring providers
- Diverse patient population with significant medical and psychosocial comorbidities
- Comprehensive evaluation and longitudinal management of chronic pain patients
- Advanced opioid and non‑opioid medication management, including tapering
- Direct consultation and education for Primary Care providers
- Patient education focused on function, expectations, and shared decision‑making
- Extensive interventional opportunities, supported by a fully equipped ambulatory surgery center procedural suite, with full staffing and resources
- Ability to perform a wide range of procedures, including:
- Basic injections (epidurals, nerve blocks, joint injections)
- More complex interventional pain procedures based on training and interest
- Flexibility to develop and expand procedural offerings within the scope of pain medicine
- Directly supervise mid-level practitioners (e.g., Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners).
- Participate in ongoing professional development and relevant training to maintain expertise in the field of addiction medicine.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation for patient care and billing.
- Provide high-quality care to patients, ensuring compliance with the standards and policies for the medical clinic.
- Monitor and comply with Quality Improvement Program indicators as directed by medical leadership.
- Assure proper follow-up of patients and coordination of specialty referrals, as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the Practice Manager to manage schedules, changes, and templates as appropriate.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Minimum of 2 years of post‑fellowship clinical experience
- Anesthesiology OR Physiatry/Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency with fellowship training in Pain Medicine (preferred).
- Board Certification or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology OR PM&R/Physiatry
- Valid California Medical License
- California DEA Certificate
- Comfortable practicing independently with strong clinical judgment
- Interest in shaping a practice that balances medication management, procedures, and education
- Strong communication skills with patients and referring providers
Compensation and Perks
- W2 Employee Model, Income Guarantee 2 years $563K
- Production beginning year 3
- Sign-On Bonus $30,000
- Relocation $15,000 available for qualified candidates
