Clinical Informatics Education Nurse
Full Time, 1
NorthBay Medical Center Annex
Fairfield, CA

Job Summary:

The Clinical Informatics Education Nurse designs, develops, and delivers effective electronic medical record (EMR) and training on other technology solutions training to promote the successful adoption of applications across the enterprise.

Current responsibilities will include clinical staff and physician electronic health record curricular development and training, orientation, and support of directed educational projects. Collects and manages data related to the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical informatics education and works collaboratively with HR Learning and Support Specialists and clinical informatics team to provide integrated and coordinated learning projects in support of the organization’s vision, mission, and goals.


  1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Registered Nursing degree required.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree required, strongly preferable in nursing or other healthcare preferably in, education, information technology (IT), or Human Resources (HR). 
  3. Master’s degree strongly preferred to support consultative and education functions.
  4. College level coursework in adult learning, instructional design, group process, organization development strongly preferred. 

Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

  1. Five years of clinical, and/or IT training experience required. Hiring manager exercises discretion in assessing past work experience against specific demands of this position for the experience requirement.
  2. Knowledge of patient care workflows required.
  3. Experience working directly with clinical staff and physicians required.
  4. Experience in healthcare organizations, knowledge of accreditation standards strongly preferred.
  5. Experience with implementation, education and/or support of clinical information systems, specifically Cerner, strongly preferred.
  6. Project management experience preferred to support project planning and consulting responsibilities.
  7. Excellent classroom and one-on-one training skills required. Instructional design skills preferred.
  8. Excellent research and analysis, organizational, oral and written communication skills required.
  9. Formal experience with consulting, facilitation, questioning, and group process skills strongly preferred.
  10. Intermediate proficiency in word processing and database applications required to support project work. Experience with spreadsheet, presentation required. Web authoring, and project management applications strongly preferred.
  11. Must demonstrate the highest discipline re: confidentiality.
  12. Must demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy. 
  13. Ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple projects in a busy office environment essential. 
  14. Requires a high level of comfort with taking initiative and being accountable for team work and service excellence. 
  15. Ability to build relationships with others to effect work essential.
  16. Capacity to maintain clear thinking, composure, and respect for others under hostile or unpredictable working conditions essential.
  17. Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly to customers reflecting the diversity of the community – internal, external, adolescent through adult, staff through senior management – required.
  18. Must project positively and professionally, consistent with the System’s mission, values, and strategic goals.


Work Hours: Administrative exempt. Training is generally delivered within Monday - Friday, 0800-1700. Requires occasional off-site, off-hour work to support pre-planned education, user support, and monitoring activities.
