Job Description

The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the Emergency Department and Hospitalists. The Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of business operations, hiring and orientation of Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs), compliance with regulatory and professional standards, and fostering collaborative interdisciplinary relationships among providers, management and staff. The Program Manager is accountable for the delivery of excellent customer service, efficient patient flow and operational efficiency within the Emergency Departments and Inpatient Departments that Hospitalists staff at NBMC and VacaValley Hospital. The Program Manager also provides team leadership to create an exceptional patient experience, as well as providers who are engaged and equipped to deliver quality, compassionate patient care. The Program Manager will collaborate with other leaders, providers and health team members across the organization to provide resources and services advocating on behalf of the patient, between inpatient and outpatient care environments. The Program Manager is responsible for monitoring and auditing business operations to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards of the ED providers.

Job Requirements

Licensure/Certification:

  1. Current California driver’s license.
  2. Inter-facility driving, open to occasional evenings and weekends, and ability to travel between facility and worksites with access to an operating vehicle with at least minimal coverage auto insurance.

Experience/Skills:  

  1. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive healthcare supervisory experience with the increasing scope of responsibility required.
  2. Emergency Department or Inpatient operations experience preferred.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  4. Must possess teaching and leadership ability, with high professional standards.
  5. Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, and work independently as an effective team member.
  6. Demonstrate effective time management skills.
  7. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends, LEAN, and healthcare regulatory and compliance initiatives.
  8. Knowledge of Cerner and physician scheduling software preferred.
  9. Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance processes required (Joint Commission, OSHA).
