Job Summary:

The Pulmonary Function Specialist (RFT) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality pulmonary function testing according to the philosophy and goals/objectives, policies, procedures, guidelines and objectives of Pulmonary Care Services.  The RCP/PFT makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with interdisciplinary team to facilitate the testing, maintenance, and restoration of health.  Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psychosocial needs of the patient. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectations of excellence of the organization. 

Education:

1. Graduate of an approved CoARC RCP Program.

Licensure/Certification:

1. Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License by the state of California. 
2. CRT and RRT required. 
3. RRT required (RRT not required if grandfathered employee)  
4. AHA or equivalent BLS certification required.
5. PFT certification preferred
6. CPFT/RPFT from the NBRC within 1 year of hire.  .

Experience: 

1. 6 months post graduate experience.
2. 1-year pulmonary function experience preferred.
