Sr. Financial Analyst - Healthcare

Full Time, FTE: 1; The new employee will be able to work from home until we are told it is safe to return to the office.

**This is a hybrid position, will work some days onsite in Fairfield California**

Position Summary

At NorthBay Healthcare the Sr. Financial Analyst is a financial expert, a lead that will prepares specialized and ad-hoc reports. The Sr. Financial Analyst will use their strong writing/verbal communication skills to work independently while leading the preparation of expenditure analyses and program analyses and performs complex analyses for the System Management Team.  Gathers, synthesizes and interprets data in developing complex analyses and reports.  Creates and modifies spreadsheets and databases to perform analytical duties.  Leads the implementation of new software and upgrades. 

Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Leads the preparation and presentation of financial analyses to the System Management Team. 
  • Types of reports include:  Capital expenditure analyses, new program evaluations, pro forma income statements, budgeting, contracting, cash flow, cost analyses, reimbursement, pricing studies and benchmarking.
  • Participates in and provides financial expertise on hospital task forces and committees.
  • Consults with department managers regarding financial and operational issues including report interpretation, scheduling, pricing, budget preparation, variance reporting and benchmarking.
  • Provides leadership and manages other projects and staff as assigned.
  • Performs others duties as assigned.


Education:  B.S. in Finance, Accounting or related. MBA, M.P.H. or equivalent preferred.

Experience:  Five years of financial analysis or management experience is required, with three years in a healthcare environment preferred.


  • Excellent analytical skills.  Ability to assess appropriateness and reliability of source data.
  • Experience using computer networks, mainframe and microcomputer use.
  • Proficient use of word processing software, spreadsheet software, database management software (Microsoft Access), budget software (Kaufman Hall Budget Advisor), hospital projection software (Kaufman Hall Hospital Advisor), reporting software (Crystal, CQCS) and cost
    accounting/decision support applications. 
  • Knowledge of GAAP and laws, regulations and statutes governing the operation of healthcare providers.
