Trauma Program/Emergency Services PI Review Nurse
Full Time, FTE: 1
NorthBay Medical Center
Fairfield, CA

 Job Summary:

Provides support to the Trauma Program PI/PS Department, Emergency Department, and coordinates projects, studies, and initiatives.  The Trauma PI/PS/Emergency Review Nurse abstracts complex clinical data from medical records into databases in support of PI/PS initiatives and projects.  Conducts studies, gathers data from appropriate information sources, unit rounds and/or other information systems, utilizes appropriate graphical representations, and prepares reports on assigned focus studies.  Works collaboratively with study stakeholders to develop improvement strategies, as assigned.  Works independently on assigned projects utilizing a high level of initiative, judgment, and critical thinking skills. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.  Works under the supervision of the Trauma Program Manager/Emergency Services Manager


  1. Graduate from a school of Nursing required.
  2. BSN or higher degree required. 

 Licensure and Certification: 

  1. Current unrestricted California registered Nurse license.  

Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

  1. Minimum of five years post graduate RN experience in critical care required, at least 2 years must be recent experience. 
  2. Prior experience in Quality Improvement preferred.  
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 
  4. Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently, and is an effective team member. 
  5. Must possess a high degree of attention to detail. 
  6. Ability to abstract complex clinical data in support of core measures and benchmarking activities required. 
  7. Basic word process skills and Power Point skills required.  Excel, Access or other database management skills preferred.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills required in interacting and dealing with medical staff, directors/supervisors and hospital personnel as well as external customers. 
  9. Maintains confidentiality of information and is reliable, tactful, and discreet.


  1. Ability to travel between facility and work sites with access to an operating vehicle with at least minimal coverage auto insurance. 
  2. Current California driver’s license.
