Systems Engineer II

NorthBay Health Fairfield, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

At NorthBay Health, the Systems Engineer II is responsible for managing assigned systems in a 24x7 environment which may include the Network, Cisco UCS, VMware, Storage Arrays, Windows AD, Linux based systems, UNIX based systems, Intel based systems, Microsoft Business Applications, Citrix, or others. The incumbent is responsible for design, specification development, analysis, testing, implementation and general system administration and maintenance of assigned systems and related devices including performance analysis & tuning, system configuration, backups & recovery, capacity planning and security administration. This position interacts with all levels of the hospital administrative and medical/clinical staff and works with the department’s Technical, Operational and Applications support staff. This person audits the system error logs and event logs, security, backup logs to ensure system safety and security.  Interacts with the system customers and understands the role of the systems and stakeholders as they relate to the general organizational environment.

Education: 

  • Four-year degree in Information Technology or 8 years of equivalent work experience required. 

Licensure/Certification:

  • The position requires a valid California driver's license
  • Current technical certifications in system administration support preferred

Experience: 

  • 7 years experience in an information technology role providing direct customer support and IT architecture design.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a system administrator for assigned Windows based systems.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in health care information technology is preferred.
  • Experience working with ITIL framework of best practices preferred.

Skills: 

  • Advanced knowledge of system administration standards including backup & recovery, security administration, performance analysis & tuning, capacity planning, hardware and O/S maintenance. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex problems under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. 
  • Expert knowledge of computer fundamentals, computer operations, telecommunications systems, and help desk methodologies. 
  • Has a good grasp of network protocol and troubleshooting and database administration.
  • Should also have a general knowledge of the healthcare business and information systems as they affect clinician’s workflow. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction/supervision is a must. 
  • The position requires dedicated attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information.
  • Ability to diagram systems architecture for presentation to management and other IT staff to communicate future requirements and current IT systems’ operation. 
  • Ability to flow chart processes to identify bottlenecks and streamline procedures

Specific Skills:

Network, Cisco UCS, VMware, Storage Arrays, Windows AD, Linux based systems, UNIX based systems, Intel based systems, Microsoft Business Applications, Citrix. Citrix products, namely XenApp, XenDesktop Netscaler, VDI, as well as SME for Server Virtualization, VMware, SAN, MS Windows AD, among other network computing technologies, with foundational knowledge of UNIX systems and Networks. MFA like Duo, EDR and Network Discovery tools like Sentinel One EDR, Sentinel One Ranger/Discovery, Microsoft M365, Exchange on Line M365, on Prem and Hybrid, Security scanning tools like Nessus, GPO, Single Sign On (SSO) like Imprivata, Email security tool like Proofpoint.

Hours of Work: 

  • Normally works eight hours Monday through Friday. 
  • Occasionally must work late in the evening or on weekends to complete project deadlines or emergency situations.
  • Hours will vary according to work demands.
  • Must be available by pager and or cell phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week according to a scheduled rotation for on-call coverage.

Compensation: $62.29  to $81.60 based on years of experience doing the duties of the job.
