Ultrasonographer, Maternal Fetal Medicine (Full Time, Day)
At NorthBay Health, the OB Sonographer in the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) clinic is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations for high-risk obstetric patients. This role supports providers by obtaining detailed fetal imaging and ensuring accurate documentation. The Sonographer embodies NorthBay’s True North values by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining excellence and integrity in all imaging services.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Performs high risk obstetric ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols.
Conducts advanced imaging including anatomy scans, BPPs, Dopplers, and NT studies.
Assists and instructs patients prior to and during examinations.
Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards.
Responsible for patient confidentiality, safety and well-being during examinations.
Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to and after each patient.
Collaborates with MFM providers and OB care team.
Reports all equipment failures and/or malfunctions to the Diagnostic Imaging outpatient supervisor.
Reports all patient complaints and discrepancies to the supervisor.
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program required.
Licensure:
RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) required
OB/GYN specialty certification (RDMS-OB/GYN) required
Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification preferred
Current BLS certification required
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of OB/GYN sonography experience required.
MFM or high-risk obstetrics experience strongly preferred.
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in obstetric ultrasound imaging
Knowledge of fetal anatomy, pathology, and high-risk conditions
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage high patient volumes and urgent cases
Effective communication and documentation skills
Hours of Work:
Based on business need; typically Monday through Friday, clinic hours

Compensation Structure
NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.
