Simulation Center Technician (Part Time)

NorthBay Health Fairfield, CA (Onsite) Part-Time

The Simulation Center Technician (Sim Tech) works under the direction of the simulation lab coordinator to facilitate low and high-fidelity human patient simulated learning at all levels. The Sim Tech assists with the operations and maintenance of the simulation equipment.  Simulation responsibilities also include setting up the room appropriately and ensuring the availability of all necessary equipment, props, and actors (if needed) for each scenario.  The Sim Tech works to ensure the smooth operation of every aspect of each scenario from start to finish.

​​​​​​​The following responsibilities are included:

  1. provide educational programs for clinical staff, physicians and the community pertinent to the patient population served and requests. 
  2. works collaboratively with Simulation Center Coordinator to assist with validating the clinical competency of staff using scenario based simulation.  
  3. assists the Simulation Center Coordinator in the development of innovative scenarios. 
  4. provides internal and external training, and outreach on the simulation center operations and functionality.
  5. fostering of interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships within the department and between other hospital departments and outside agencies. 
  6. represent the simulation center in the community through outreach to build support for the center’s local use.
  7. participates in facility tours and marketing of the center as requested.

Education: 

  1. High-school diploma required.
  2. Associate degree in healthcare related field or equivalent work experience preferred.

Certifications:

  1. BLS instructor certification required within 3 months of hire.
  2. Current certification in ACLS at provider level within 6 months of hire. 

Experience: 

  1. A Minimum of one years experience in a healthcare related field required, i.e. paramedic, EMT, Respiratory Therapist or hospital technician.
  2. Experience with health care information technologies preferred.
  3. Experience working with medical simulation education preferred.

Skills: 

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology.
  2. Creativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving problems.
  3. Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Office including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  4. Ability to present data to diverse groups of stakeholders.
  5. Working knowledge of computer functionality, telecommunications, audio and video equipment. Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  6. Ability to work with limited supervision.
  7. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  8. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  9. Knowledge of the healthcare documentation systems. 
  10. The position requires dedicated attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information. 
  11. Able to control tense situations to remain focused on the problem at hand.

Interpersonal Skills: 

  1. Excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills.
  2. Able to communicate in an effective and professional manner with co-workers, vendors, associates and other departments.

Compensation: MIN $27.23 - $33.10
