Manager, Patient Financial Services Ambulatory

NorthBay Health Fairfield, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

At NorthBay Health, this position will assist the Manager Patient Financial Services (PFS) in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the professional fee PFS department billing and collections operations. Responsibilities will include monitoring NorthBay ambulatory and hospital-based physician billing and accounts (AR) collection operations; developing, recording, and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI), as well as other operational indicators to ensure AR focus is aligned with meeting the financial performance goals of NorthBay Healthcare. The incumbent will work with each of the PFS areas to review performance measures, provide support and recommendations to the PFS leadership team to assist them in achieving the department’s goals and objectives.

The Manager will review policies and processes in each area and work with the leadership team to make processes more efficient and effective to include ensuring staff assignments, duties and training are appropriate. Responsible for all operational policies and procedures related to accounts receivable management.  Responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient workflow operations and compliance with all applicable billing regulations and contracts. The manager is also responsible for evaluating, recommending, and assisting with implementation of systems solutions to enhance the automation of accounts receivable management.

Performs, or directs, audits designed to ensure integrity, quality and control over the billing and collection processes. Mentors and provides staff with day-to-day guidance and assistance.  Recommends and implements policies to enhance the billing and collection process while preparing accurate and timely financial reports to measure the effectiveness of A/R management and follow-up.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field from an accredited college or university. Alternate Qualification: 10 years of experience in medical billing and Accounts Receivable (AR) management with progressive responsibility.

Licensure/Certification: All new hires will be required to complete the HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) training course within the first nine (9) months of employment. Membership, training, and certification costs will be sponsored by the employer.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role. 10 years of experience in professional and/or hospital billing, including in-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding. Understanding of payer contracts, payment structures, and federal/state regulations. Proficiency with compliance and collection laws. Proven track record in AR management. Experience implementing and/or supporting healthcare information systems.

Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Proficient in PC applications. Proficiency in PC applications and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Extensive experience with revenue cycle and financial system applications. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Hours of Work: This position is exempt. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Compensation: $140k to $155k based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
