Nutrition Associate II (VCVH, Secondary)

JOB SUMMARY

At NorthBay Healthcare the Nutrition Associate II (NA II) warmly greets and welcomes patients, responds to their questions and guides them through the food and nutrition meal ordering process. She/he interacts respectfully with the patient and/or patient’s representative to obtain and record accurate and complete information regarding meal/food preferences. The NA II responds expeditiously in a professional and concerned manner to patient inquiries/requests. She/he takes initiative to resolve patient issues to the best of their ability and within therapeutic diet restrictions. NAII promptly notifies Supervisor or Clinical Nutrition Supervisor when additional support may be needed to meet patient expectations. The NA II maintains and promotes an attitude of professionalism and empathy as reflected by courteous actions, maintenance of confidentiality and appropriate presentation of self.  Consistently demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.  The NA II assists meal tray assembly; tray delivery and pick-up; answers patient related phone calls and remains responsible for any food service duties assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

  1. Education/Training: High School Graduate or GED preferred. 
  2. Licensure/Certification: Current Safe Food Handler’s certificate required.
  3. Experience: 
    1. One to three years customer engagement experience and/or service centered experience required
    2. One year food service experience or healthcare experience is required.   Current enrollment in dietetics program or completion of dietetics program or degree is accepted.
    3. Experience within a healthcare environment preferred.
    4. Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate thoughts into a useful and meaningful discussion.
    5. Some working knowledge in the areas listed below is preferred:
      • Nutrition, therapeutic diet restrictions
      • Medical terminology.
  4. Skills:  Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in basic nutrition care and therapeutic diets.  Math, organization, and excellent communication skills required.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence including, but not limited to professionalism, customer focus, compassion, strong listening skills and a warm demeanor.  Consistently exhibits empathy, optimism, resourcefulness and cultural competency in interactions with others.  Is extremely open to learning new things and teaming with others in a collaborative environment.  Proven track record of conducting him/herself in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the unique complexities and challenges of the healthcare environment.  The NorthBay Way is a set of value-based behaviors that are to be consistently demonstrated and role modeled by all employees that work at NorthBay Healthcare.  The NorthBay Way principles consist of Caring, Communication, Collaboration, and Competence. 
  6. Compensation
  • Hourly Salary Range Min $23.73 - Max $26.21 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
  • Evening Shift Hourly Differential:  $1.80
  • Night Shift Hourly Differential: $2.94
  • Weekend Hourly Differential: 5% of pay rate
